CPI Security Overview

cpisecurity-logoCPI has been in business for over 20 years, keeping families and businesses safe in the Southeast.  They use 2GIG home security technology in their customer’s homes, which is a fantastic system, and one of the best on the market today.  The company holds an A- with the Better Business Bureau, and proudly opened their doors in 1976, servicing mostly North Carolina and Georgia.  After installation of your system with CPI, you’ll receive 24 hour monitoring from their control center.  CPI has a staff of fully trained professionals who have been working in the security industry for some time now.  There’s always a live customer service representative over the phone when you need them.  Everything is done in-house, and their control center is fully owned and run by CPI.

CPI Security Reviews

Customer reviews seem to indicate that CPI deals a lot with false alarms.  Unfortunately this is a very big problem for any security company to deal with.  There have been numerous complaints with the Better Business Bureau regarding this.  Also, false reports occur of windows being open, etc.  Aside from these technical snafus, CPI is not very clear about the details of opening an account or starting a service agreement.  There are multiple different contract lengths and monitoring prices will be based upon the customer’s credit rating.  Because of this, it’s very difficult to know upfront what these costs are going to be.  There is a whopping $299 installation fee when you go with CPI.  Customers also complain that the contract is too long with CPI, and other companies don’t ask for nearly as much time as this company does.  You also get less standard equipment in their package.  All in all, CPI is a pretty good company, and not a bad choice for those who live in North Carolina or Georgia.  Just be prepared to perhaps have a false alarm or two.  Their customer service representatives get high marks for being kind and helpful.  Their knowledgeable staff is available around the clock in case you need them.  The technical staff also gets high marks for being skilled and professional, and after installation the specialist will always make sure that you know the ins and outs of your system and how to maintain it.

CPI Security Equipment

With the basic CPI wireless or wired package you get a control panel, 720p HD Interior Camera with night vision, remote keyless door lock, remote thermostat, motion detector, fire communicator, 3 door contacts, Real Time Response with Audio and Visual Verification, as well as free apps for smartphones or tablet.  This is a generous amount of equipment which should be sufficient to secure most homes.  Should you desire extra items, products can be added to this basic package to beef it up a bit.  It is recommended that you use the wireless system, as it cuts less holes into your walls and is easy to install.  But, should you chose the wired package, it works quite well and manages to get the job done.  All in all, this is nice equipment made by 2GIG, and should be able to last you through a number of years.  It should be noted that the website does not mention any warranty that comes on this equipment, so be sure to ask the customer representative over the phone.

CPI Security Home Security Packages

cpisecurityThe basis 2GIG package is pretty comprehensive, and you can choose to go with a wireless or wired package.  The package comes with all the equipment mentioned above, and is backed by 24 hour CPI monitoring.  The LCD keypad is where customers can check the settings of their system, and the inTouch app allows you to remotely control your system from any internet device.  You can activate and deactivate alarms, receive email and text notifications, as well as change security codes. If you add video monitoring to your basic package, you can even view footage from the cameras on your smartphone.  The Home Automation package will even allow you to adjust the temperature of your home remotely.  CPI claims to have the fastest response times in the industry, according to their website.  This package is nice in size, and decent in price.  It’s possible to fully customize this as well to include everything that you could possibly need to secure your home.
